Access to cures of foreign citizens
Citizens pertaining to the European Union
If you are a foreigner and from a country among the European Union*, You must have your European sanitary card or substitutive model E111.
Citizens NOT pertaining to European Union
With permit of stay
If you are a foreigner with permit of stay, you must enrol at the national sanitary services through the Azienda USL of your province of residence. At every renew of permit of stay, remember also to renew your sanitary card.
Without permit of stay
If you are without permit of stay (irregular/without document) you can also receive assistances by asking for an STP ( straniero temporaneamente presente) through the Azienda USL at Via A. Cassoli n.30, Ferrara or inside the hospital premises at the Ex Depensario in Via Montara16. the STP card has the validity of about six (6) months and it is renewable, and it's valid through all national territory. This STP card gives you the right to choose a personal medico doctor, therefore to being visited, obtain demands for test and specialist check-up.
In any case it is possible to receive medico care, by paying all services render. And eventually, having the cover of your expense through a private insurance.
It is important remember that living your data's to who will medically take care of you, do not signify reporting to the police. except cases that has to do with the law, likewise for an Italian citizen.
