Cytogenetics testing aims to detect numerical and structural chromosome abnormalities in human cells. Chromosome analysis relies on various techniques, from observing chromosomes under a microscope (karyotyping or chromosomal mapping) to molecular analysis of chromosomal DNA, which can highlight numerical anomalies and structural abnormalities that cannot be seen under a microscope. Chromosomes analysis can be performed via post-natal testing of peripheral blood samples or prenatal testing of foetal cells (chorionic villi, amniotic fluid, foetal blood).

MEDICAL REPORTS
All medical reports regarding pre- or postnatal cytogenetics tests performed on biological samples referred by internal departments (inpatients, day-hospital, or PAC patients) or external institutions will be sent to the referring physician. Medical reports regarding outpatient tests will be sent to the assisting Medical Geneticist, who will draw up the genetic counselling report.
